Get Inspired

Kiwanis clubs, located in 80 nations, help their communities in countless ways. Each community's needs are different—so each Kiwanis club is different. By working together, members achieve what one person cannot accomplish alone. When you give a child a chance to learn, experience, dream, grow, succeed and thrive, great things happen.

A service heart: Service is at the core of every Kiwanis club, no matter where in the world it's located. Members host nearly 150,000 service projects and raise nearly US$100 million every year for communities, families and projects. Kiwanis raises awareness of the needs in the community and around the world and works with other like-minded people to help with solutions.

Generations of commitment: Many clubs sponsor a Kiwanis family club—K-Kids for primary school children; Builders Club for adolescents; Key Club for teens; CKI clubs for university students and Aktion Clubs for adults living with disabilities. There are also teen leadership weekend retreats, literacy programs, Bring Up Grades programs, Terrific Kids character development programs, and more!

Ready for a feel-good story? We thought so . . .

For decades the Kiwanis Club of Kansas City, MO has sponsored a program called the Kiwanis Student Assistance Program which helps teens in the Kansas City area who cannot live at home to stay in high school and graduate.

This Program has a very high level of success. Knowing that, the President of the Africana Children's Education Fund ( A.C.E.F. ) approached us about helping a young woman in Ghana, West Africa who fervently wishes to become a nurse. She comes from a very poor family which could not help her at all financially. Her name is Vida Amoah.

Convinced by the President of the A.C.E.F. that Vida would be a serious student, the Club committed to providing the financial support she needed to enter a nursing college starting in September 2019. To date, with the Club's assistance, Vida has completed one year of the three-year program and currently, Vida is working as a nurse in her hometown.

The A.C.E.F. continues to help our Club by being a conduit of communication and by providing Vida with guidance. For more information about the A.C.E.F. , please visit its website at : https://www.childofafrica.org .

Recently Vida sent our Kiwanis Club a video clip to express her appreciation. Please watch and enjoy . . . and if you'd like to be part of something bigger than self and do good right here in KC AND around the world, connect with us. We're the oldest Kiwanis Club in Missouri (over 100 years!), but we're just getting started.
